Adams & DeCastro To Start Against Eagles; Haley Likes Ben and Vice-Versa; Aug. 19 Fan Appreciation Day

Steelers Plan On Using Two Rookies Against Eagles

Yesterday, Coach Tomlin announced that David DeCastro and Mike Adams will start against the Eagles on Thursday. DeCastro will start at right guard while Adams will be left guard.

DeCastro was the 24th overall draft pick. Adams was a second-round draft pick.

"Both guys have worked extremely hard, both guys finish and they're smart young men," said Tomlin.  "We'll know more about them by Thursday night," added Tomlin.

Haley And Roethlisberger Build Rapport

Todd Haley grew up as the Steelers ball boy during the Steelers 1970's dynasty. His father was the team's personnel director. With those glorious years in mind, the last thing Haley wants to do is disappoint the team.  "It's neat and special and makes you want to do great things here," said Haley.

It's also why he appears to be getting along well with Roethlisberger even though the quarterback had some initial reservations about Haley's more balanced approached on offense, meaning also relying on the run.

"...I've never been one to shy away from just winning ballgames. So however we've got to win, that's all that matters, " said Roethlisberger reinforcing Haley's approach to the offense.

More important, Coach Tomlin respects Haley's more demanding coaching style. "Todd's a rock-solid coach whose guys have always played solid and hard, " said Tomlin.

"Ben will step up to the challenge...They'll mesh well," said Kurt Warner, former Cardinals QB.
